    Dear Audra,kurt and family,

We are so sorry for the loss of your baby girl. We prayed for a miracle for Samantha and now we pray that you and your family can find peace in knowing that God is holding your little girl in his arms and she is no longer suffering. Our thoughts are with you.

When a child dies, we come face to face with tragedy of the deepest kind. We cannot escape it. It grinds itself into our very being. But we will find in that being, our innermost selves, a way out, a way to move on. My way will not be to dwell on Samantha’s death. Instead, I will dwell on her life. Her smile. Her laugh. Her incredible gift of caring. Her love for us all.

Kurt and Audra, Christopher and Jason, I can only ask that you do the same. It will help you get through a great sadness that will seem to consume you at times. Remember her life, a life that sprang from you, Kurt and Audra, and one that you, Christopher and Jason, share with your common blood, a life that is mirrored in different ways in your young faces. Her life will always be with you. Cherish it, and tell Jason, when he’s old enough to understand, that her love has been passed on to him.

    Love,
    Mom & Dad
